WFTDA joins USA Rollersports as a Class V national organization

The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is proud to announce that our member leagues have voted to join USA Roller Sports as a Class V national organization.

Founded in 2004, the Women's Flat Track Derby Association promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues.

USA Roller Sports is recognized by the Federation Internationale de Roller Skating and United States Olympic Committee as the National Governing Body for Competitive Roller Sports in the United States. Roller derby is the fastest growing competitive roller sport in the world, and both organizations are enthusiastic about this partnership.

After careful deliberation, the WFTDA has selected Melanie Holt aka Madame M, a trainer and competitive skater for Houston Roller Derby, to represent the WFTDA and the sport of roller derby by holding a USARS board seat. Madame M has a long history in many skating disciplines, including a background in competitive speed skating and USARS Coach Certification. She will serve on the USARS board for three years.

The WFTDA is very pleased to have direct representation for the sport of roller derby in the USA Rollersports organization.
